Gingrich Speech at Catholic University Opposed
Some students contend that his appearance would violate the school's policy barring speakers who have espoused positions contrary to Vatican teachings.
So much for a university being a place for the free and open exchange of ideas. Also, with a rule like this, how can they ever expect to get any Jesuits to speak?

'Goyles just wanna have fun
"...because of superstition, people believed demons" (gargoyles) "frozen in stone served notice for other evil spirits to stay away or risk the same fate."
The idea that gargoyles were created on the outside of cathedrals to frighten away evil demons is commonly accepted. I contend that this makes little or no sense. If the Medieval Church wanted to use imagery to frighten away evil spirits, they would have used an icon such as St. Michael, the angel who defeated Lucifer and his rebel angels and helped facilitate their banishment to Hell. St. Michael is often called upon in an exorcism ritual because of this fact. I posit that the reason for the existence of the gargoyles had more to do with the theology of the Catholic Church that 'outside the Church there is no salvation.'  Gargoyles in most every case, were on the outside of the church, symbolizing that those outside the Church were damned. Because most of the population in the Middle Ages was illiterate, images such as gargoyles conveyed to the masses the Church's theology.

You would never guess, scanning the lists of books recommended by literary types, that the book of 2004 was clearly The Da Vinci Code, written by a former teacher who gets his ideas by hanging upside down from gravity boots.
Much like the movie "National Treasure," which the public loves and the critics don't (this critic being an exception).
